What’s in store for you: Consultation

Coping with children’s eating difficulties, restricted diets or socially inappropriate eating habits is a journey that parents and carers do not have to go through alone. At The Eating School, we know that every child is unique and so are their eating problems. That’s why we offer consultations aimed at providing you with the guidance and support you may need on this, sometimes quite complex, journey.

What is an online consultation?

The consultation is an online meeting that lasts 50 minutes. A therapist and a parent (or several caregivers) of the child are present. The presence of the child alone is undesirable in most cases.

During the consultation, we will ask questions about the child’s food history, but mainly about the current situation. Subsequently, we will talk about the basic strategies that you can start applying immediately after the end of the consultation!

The most common problems we solve at consultations:

  • How to expand a child’s food repertoire.
  • How to teach a child to eat more of a particular food group, such as meat or vegetables.
  • How to teach a child to eat a very specific food.
  • How to teach a child to eat specifically prepared foods, such as soups.
  • How to dismantle a tablet at the table.
  • How to set up meals in a nursery school or school.
  • Whether it is necessary to undergo a Comprehensive examination.
  • And many others.

It is then advisable to consult directly with a nutritional therapist about questions regarding the development or provision of specific nutrients.

The convenience of online consultation

Your time is valuable and that is why we want to make our services as accessible as possible to you. All our sessions take place online via the Google Meet platform. This means you don’t have to plan a trip or arrange babysitting. You can join the consultation from the comfort of your home. Just open the link that comes to you in the confirmation e-mail when ordering the service. After prior arrangement, it is possible to have a consultation in person at the doctor’s office. If you decide to have a personal consultation, you need to contact the reception by phone and make an appointment for the consultation.

The consultation is for you

Our consultations are intended for parents and carers. The child should not be present at the consultation, as we may discuss topics that may not be pleasant for him to hear. Even if you feel that you can speak openly in front of the child and he does not understand you. During the consultations, we will conduct an open dialogue. You also need complete openness and trust, which could be negatively affected by the presence of a child.

The goal of the consultation is to create a strategy that will work just for you and your family. Our starting point is the current situation at home, no matter what it is. Changes must be introduced gradually to ensure their sustainability.

The consultation does not replace a comprehensive examination

During the consultation, we set a strategy without a closer examination of the sources of the child’s difficulties, without videos and without a nutritional assessment. Sometimes the problem may seem obvious, but after performing a detailed analysis of all the data, it may turn out that the problem is somewhere completely different than originally thought. Sometimes the outcome of the consultation may be a recommendation to undergo a comprehensive examination.

The Eating School is here for you. Our goal is to support you at every step on the way to establishing healthier eating habits for your child. Consultations are designed to provide quick insights and actionable strategies to help your child thrive.

You can book a consultation in the reservation system . If you are still hesitating which service to choose, contact our reception .

What’s in store for you: Comprehensive examination

The comprehensive examination is intended for families who are struggling with eating difficulties with their children. The aim of this service is to provide a comprehensive view of the current situation and offer concrete steps leading to the improvement of the current situation. As part of the examination, we focus on individual aspects of eating, which together create a picture of what happens at your family tables. Although it would be easy to blame the whole situation on the use of a tablet at the table or a delay in the child's motor skills, in the vast majority of cases there is one problem behind everything, which subsequently affects other areas of eating. As part of the examination, we monitor the child's health aspects, the child's ability to handle food and process it, the child's and parents' eating behavior, nutritional status and other relevant factors.
