What’s in store for you: Nutritional consultation with dietary assessment

Nutritional consultations are intended for parents who want to have an overview of the current intake of energy and nutrients in their child’s diet. The nutritional consultation includes an evaluation of the child’s diet and an online meeting with a nutritional therapist from the Papány School. The aim of the consultation is to adjust the child’s menu with regard to his age, health status, ability to accept food, family habits or taste preferences.

What is a nutritional consultation?

The nutritional consultation is focused on the child’s diet. As part of this service, the current menu is evaluated, which the parent records in advance. The output is a nutritional evaluation, thanks to which you get a complete overview of the current intake of energy and nutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats and fiber) in the child’s diet. The variety and composition of the menu, the choice of food or the drinking regime (including the choice of drinks) are also evaluated. The evaluation is the first step to decide whether individual cooperation is needed to adjust the diet. A part of the nutritional evaluation is also a recommendation to adjust the menu.

A nutritional consultation with an evaluation of the menu is appropriate if the parent or caregiver is dealing with the following:

  • The parent is worried about whether the child is getting enough energy or individual nutrients.
  • The child is not thriving (is not gaining optimal weight or is losing weight).
  • The child has specific eating habits – he refuses some important foods (e.g. meat or fish) or food groups (e.g. vegetables, fruit, dairy products).
  • The child has food allergies or intolerances – e.g. cow’s milk protein allergy (ABKM), lactose intolerance, celiac disease, histamine intolerance, etc.
  • The child does not have an optimal body weight, is overweight, obese or, conversely, underweight.

Nutritional consultation after the examination

If you completed a comprehensive examination at the Papány School, you also received a nutritional evaluation of the menu. If there has been no change in the child’s diet and the nutritional evaluation of the diet is so up-to-date, you can smoothly follow up with a nutritional consultation or therapy. In this case, the nutritional evaluation of the menu is no longer created again, and because of this, the price differs from the nutritional consultation with the evaluation of the menu. The same applies in the case of follow-up nutritional consultations after a nutritional consultation with an evaluation of the menu. The content of nutritional therapy is cooperation in adjusting the child’s menu according to individual requirements and needs (e.g. consultation on food selection, the composition of individual daily meals or expanding the variety of the menu).

What’s in store for you: Therapy

The therapy at The Eating School is aimed at creating a safe and positive environment in which your child can explore food and food and thus develop a healthy relationship with eating. The main goal is to gain a positive experience with food and gradually build a positive relationship with food as well as other skills associated with its consumption. It is essential that at the beginning of any therapy we do not expect children to eat or taste food. Our method is based on a playful approach, and if your child asks what they are going to do in therapy, you can safely tell them that we are going to play. The pace and activities are adapted so that the child feels safe, regardless of the current difficulties with food.

What’s in store for you: Comprehensive examination

The comprehensive examination is intended for families who are struggling with eating difficulties with their children. The aim of this service is to provide a comprehensive view of the current situation and offer concrete steps leading to the improvement of the current situation. As part of the examination, we focus on individual aspects of eating, which together create a picture of what happens at your family tables. Although it would be easy to blame the whole situation on the use of a tablet at the table or a delay in the child's motor skills, in the vast majority of cases there is one problem behind everything, which subsequently affects other areas of eating. As part of the examination, we monitor the child's health aspects, the child's ability to handle food and process it, the child's and parents' eating behavior, nutritional status and other relevant factors.
