Management and diagnosis of ABKM, news in the field of enteral nutrition, eating disorders in children, FGID (functional gastrointestinal disorders) or the specifics of fiber intake – these are only some of the topics discussed at the congress.

Our lecture was devoted to the therapeutic aspect of difficulties with food intake, which I presented for The Eating School. My goal was to emphasize the need for connected care and to encourage doctors not to focus only on objective measures (such as weight, height or laboratory results), but also to offer parents understanding in their complex situation. The response to this lecture was very positive and we also received several offers for cooperation and further participation in conferences. This confirms to us that spreading awareness and supporting a therapeutic approach makes sense and has an irreplaceable place in medicine.

Leading experts from the fields of pediatric gastroenterology, allergology, neonatology and pediatric general practitioners gathered at the congress. The expert guarantor of the congress was Prof. MD Jiří Bronský, Ph.D., head of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Department of the Pediatric Clinic 2. Faculty of Medicine and Faculty Hospital Motol. His support and cooperation with the Papan School is a great honor for us.

A very interesting view was provided by MUDr. El-Lababidi, who spoke about functional gastrointestinal disorders and their problematic diagnosis. His view of minimal intervention and follow-up as the best option was provocative and offered a new perspective on the treatment of these conditions.

The congress took place in beautiful premises in the center of Brno and brought not only interesting expertise, but also an inspiring environment and the possibility of establishing new contacts. We believe that the discussion and interaction between the participants contributed to the improvement of health practice in the field of child nutrition.

Conference: childhood obesity in the context of eating disorders

In December 2023, a conference dedicated to the topic of childhood obesity and its causes was held in Prague aftermath. The program was provided by the Society for Nutrition, which brings together independent nutrition and food industry experts. And although I usually focus on eating disorders in children from the underdevelopment side, preparing for the conference led me to an interesting discovery: many children with obesity experience a strange paradox. Although they often have a limited diet, they still tend to consume large amounts of their favorite foods. So this is a completely identical problem to that of children who are not making progress. This interesting insight became the basis of my presentation, which dealt with non-invasive therapeutic approaches to the treatment of eating disorders in children.
